Background

Migrant response centre (MRC) is a leading agency of supporting migrants under the control and the instruction of the Ministry of Resettlement and Humanitarrian Affairs (MORHA). It was established MRC Hargeisa on July 2009 and MRC Burcao on February 2025 in response to contribute and offer a solution to the escalating magnitude of irregular migration in the region.

The main reason behaind opeining both MRC’s is to provide supports and protects migrants, providing a safe space and essential assistance. It coordinates help, promotes dignity, and ensures migrants can navigate challenges and rebuild their lives.

Vision

 MRC to envisage all the basic needs of the migrants responded and the right of the migrants protected and respected.

Mission

MRC providing the protection of the migrants through service delivery based on their needs, coordinating the service of the migrants, advocacy of migrant protection to law enforcement and conducting awareness rising of the migrants (Tahrib) risk.   

Values

MRC’s work is based upon the following core values; commitment towards mixed migrants in Somaliland and other regions, motivation to make things work, tolerance to different opinions & beliefs. The MRC is politically neutral and does not discriminate between migrants.  Its values are reflected and carried out by its strategy, staff and management style. The MRC believes that these core values can make an important contribution to the success of its current and future programs. Where possible, the MRC aims to advocate and transfer these values to our partners and beneficiaries.
